Thanks Bending-Chills. I'm not big with the internet, but I'm trying this out. Hopefully, the common love for lyrics and music will be a keeping factor. I find the forum and the members interesting (from what I've read thus far).

Was visiting The Choir Girl Hotel the morning, when "Playboy Mommy," moved me to tears. I think Amos does some of her most evocative singing. Her trembling voice at songs end, is heart wrenching. It's not at all about my life, but it sure takes you there. A very remarkable and moving performance.

Thank you ~mistyleigh Smiling

And yes that story is a beautiful story and also very sad (I loved that movie too)

i don't know if she writes for "sad"
i think she writes for another realm ...
too sleepy to think...
but if i could put sad to it - beekeeper and playboy mommy...
she just seems to teach SoMeThInG with only the sadness as a companion...
it a string of the melody...
she tends to stir in beauty and mystery and sensuality...
this is all i can respond too...
eventually, we find more joy hidden in our hearts when all the truth is said...

welcome, ya'll...the names vampiro and lespacino, and graveyard reminds me of Brams Stoker's Dracula...
that film, to me, was an awesome love story...
okay, incoming tangit with sleepy in my head. not a fruitful mix.

Bending-Chills!

Thank you for that welcome gesture.

I just wanted to go off topic for a second to say welcome to our new members, Vampiro and lespacino. I hope you two settle in and get comfortable. Smiling

Playboy Mommy for me- for purely personal reasons. Most of the others I find simply empowering. They strike an anger chord and incite action in me.

Winter
would be the one I would pick....
Was thinking first if I would write the reason of that here or not but as I am an open door I thought what
the heck....
So the reason to why it are sad for me is that I reflect upon it onto that it so cut into me in the chorus
as that is one thing I doubt I ever can learn to do and that have always been strange to me...
Yea I know it may make no sense to anyone as it are my life and it are not that known really outside
from my poetry.

So anyhow as I got to pick only one I picked Winter.

I agree razy. If you stop and think about the content of many of Tori's songs they are sad, but I don't find most of her songs sad, in and of themselves.
Though I must say, yesterday as I was driving I put on LE and got rather teary to both Winter and Mother. They are beautifully sad.

It's an interesting debate you got there BC,mycloud and SJ.

The song that got me to notice Tori was BOC. I sent it from youtube to a colleague of mine. She told me on msn"ah! you have finally discovered Tori..". It turned out she has been a long time fan urr i mean EWF Sticking out tongue

So when we exchange views on her i said "but those stupid greek radio stations don't ever play Tori!" And her reply was that "well Tori comes out as very emotional. She is known for her strongly emotional lyrics and music. So it's not like her songs are easy listening."

And i do get that. But i don't think they are sad and depressing.

I agree with Sammy and to a certain degree with mycloud. I think the thing with Tori's song is that they tend to focus on that inner conflict of the person knowing themselves, knowing what others want and need, and trying bridge that gap while staying true to themselves. And at the same time, we have to consider which of our needs are met or neglected by that process.

I'm not saying this as fact but it's IMO, most of Tori's songs are sad in one way or another. This is why I took all Tori songs off my mp3 player, used as I drive my truck. It's hard to drive with tears in my eyes. Now I only listen to Tori at night at home b4 bed. She does give me a good night sleep.
One of the saddest songs for me is Baker Baker. Here, there must be something here, here, here.

I´ve been thinking about this and yes, there are many songs that bring tears to my eyes; Gold Dust, Toast, The Beekeeper, to name a few. but I still can´t come up with a sad song. to me there are so many layers in every one of the songs I just can´t say -this one is sad. if that makes any sense.

Gold Dust always brings a tear to my eye. Everytime without fail.

Good!

I have to remind myself not to lecture others (particularly women) about voting. I tell them I don't care who they vote for as long as they do it. There's a whole song and dance about how long it took us to get the vote to begin with, the women who were arrested for doing it the first times, - I can go on for ages.

The polls may not always go the way I want them to, but I still feel better for participating.
--

Oh yeah I voted... and was a sign toting, crowd speakin freak ... at the headquarters until late... gosh, I met fascinating people from out of state as well - DC, CA, Someone born near the Caspian Sea... all walks of life...

I'll tell you - I am a Hill Raiser since way back...

Thanks for clearing me of the guilt. Smiling The next time I feel vain, I'll just tell myself I have permission. Eye-wink

--

dude. vanity is like my middle name...me and my friends are so vain that one of them is gonna get a tattooo of the word vanity...i personally don think theres anything wrong witha bit of narcissism from time to time

plus birthdays not til december...shafted, lol

- so just close your eyes, son, this won't hurt a bit -

Father Lucifer, I know how that can be. If you ever really want something let me know, you must have a birthday or something....
Just be forewarned, I have a difficult time giving them up completely. I made one as a "cheer up" type gift for another member a while back; and decided I liked it so much that later asked her if I could still use it myself.

*blushes* I know that is awful on several levels. It is both vain, and keeping part of someone's gift. Sometimes I'm a little evil. Evil

You are welcome "cloudonmytongue", Smiling and yes, I can also hear and feel the emotion in this song a great deal. Emotion in every way and the fearless way in which Tori wears her heart on her sleeve is one of the greatest things that drew me to Tori's music. Oh, and of course her music is brilliant. Smiling

i doubt id have any tori stuff you dont. and id donate to to charity...although im probably a charity myself as im so poor lately. lol

I do think one of the cleverest things you Australians ever gave us was the secret/Australian ballot; so no, I don't vote and tell. Eye-wink

Thank you so much for the complement. I'd take a commission. Smiling Either as a trade for other Tori stuff, or a donation to charity; I know you're kidding right now, but if you change your mind let me know. Smiling

--

i'd love to ask who you voted for...but i probs shouldnt. lol. yeh i love all your pics...i might commission you to do one for me one day. lol

--
- so just close your eyes, son, this won't hurt a bit -

Hard to pick one but I'd have to go with Marianne.

Thank You. Smiling

I have a special one for today because it is election day in my state, but I'll be going back to the other one tomorrow. I need to change things up every now and then, so I make new pics and keep them on hand for a little variety.

also bending-chills i like the new signature pic thing

gold dust has just hit me like a train...ive never really listened to it before, but things have been bad lately and i put it on and it took all my self restraint not to break down

--
- so just close your eyes, son, this won't hurt a bit -

Thanks azzad. There was a time I couldn't even listen to this song without misting up. Especially the line 'I know you want my queen/ anything but this, could you use me instead?'
The words are beautiful, but you can hear her desperation and deep sadness at the prospect of losing her mother.

Ditto "cloudonmytongue",
The Beekeeper gets my feelings going lately. It gets me sad, then happy, then sad, all mixed up in one!

The one I can't listen to much is "Me and a Gun". That one is too painful for any sort of regular basis. How she performed it at each show for years blows my mind. She must have a spine made of steel.

"Operation Peter Pan" is definitely a tough one too. But it is only one out of many. I think there are many "shades" of sad. So maybe what is saddest depends on the way you relate to it.

Bells For Her

When pianos try to be guitars

i'll ditto eastercat: gold dust is heartbreaking.

Toast and Graveyard do it for me... I still haven't paid much attention to Apollo's Frock - maybe it's time that I do so Smiling

--
"Excuse me, but can I be you for a while? My dog won't bite if you sit real still"

Toast's pretty sad too.

Without a doubt it has to be The Beekeeper for me.

Baker Baker. It hurts my heart every time I hear it.

Gold Dust

Playboy Mommy - achingly beautiful and heart-breaking.

When a friend of mine finally got pregnant after a long time trying and then lost the baby in her 3rd month.
I think of her and shed a tear when I listen to; Abbey Road, a beautiful b-side

lord is it even possibly to pick the saddest one?...they can all kick my ass pretty seriously, especially putting the damage on...and spark...
