the short skip to Melbourne, the meet and greet

Was so happy to be home for 2 days. Took the stress out of the concert scenario.
Misty got Milfy to the King Center in time to start her busy work day =) and I choose to sleep in and not find myself amongst the walking dead before show time. My friend Cindy was coming to Melbourne with me so I chimed in on her by phone before I started to get ready at leisure. We agreed that I would call gher after I got in from the meet and greet and we would hook up before the show and ride in together. She being pregnant was no feeling up to coming out to the King Center to wait with the crowds, and hough a nap before the show would out her in a more relaxed state for her first Tori Concert. Since they had cancelled the meet and greet in Ft Myers I wasn’t entirely sure if it would happen at all so I figured it would be a was to turn my alabaster skin into a lobster for something that may or may not happen.

I got to the King Center at about 10 minutes before 3pm. Misty with her expert eye had come along to snap some pictures if needed. As I made my way across the lush green lawn at the King Center I saw a group of hopefuls standing about 40 deep around red velvet ropes. They all looked excited and hopeful. I didn’t join the group, it wasn’t any type of priority to get up to the font ranks, I’d already had that moment on the same lawn 5 years ago. Ironically that meet and greet was my first in a lot of way. First Tori concert, first venture to these fabled meet and greets and surprisingly enough my first meet with Tori. That tour was also in November, so I did hope in the bottom of my heart that maybe their was something about Melbourne in the fall. Their were difference in this greet session. In 2002 their had been over 150 people out on the lawn, dramatically less this tour. Not so much out of a lack of love or bodies, but that their were official packages with meet in greet sessions that did not require waiting and many cancelled greets over the last 2 months had slowed the pack of people willing to risk a whole day waiting for their miracle.

As I sat up under some Palm trees I notice my Lisa lady walking up. She had just made the drive in from Port Charlotte. The previous night I had envied her after I passed her exit realizing I still had almost 3 hours of a drive to complete, while today I’m sure the tides of envy had turned my way since my commute for this show was a whopping 12 minute drive up US 1. We paused for some commemorative photo op’s and Milfy made her way out of the gate towards our direction. We watched all the hopefuls eyes follow her journey from behind the gates to our little gathering to the side of he huddled mass’s. I giggled inside wondering how many of them were trying o figure out who she was. Milfy told us that she had head from agood source back stage that Tori and Smitty would be out shortly to do the meet and greet.

Lisa lady was having a little pain and numbness in her wrist so Milfy started doing some manipulation to her pressure points to loosen her up. Someone overheard Milfy talking at a technical level about what she was doing to Lisa, and she shouted over that Milfy knew her stuff. The long distance conversation continued for a moment, and Milfy slowly wrapped up with us deciding to go back and grab a bite to eat for the catering staff while the rest of us commoners waited on the lawn for the moment to come into swing.
It was about this time that I notice that Resse had made his way to the show. I was mildy surprised to see him, but not overly. When you Travel from Peru to see some rock concerts you are bound to make the best of it after all! We wrapped up our conversation and I left him in the corner of the front ranks of the adoring, and made my way back over to Misty and Lisa.

Moment later the squalls of delight floated to us as Tori and Smitty began the saunter over to the huddle behind the velvet ropes. I couldn’t help but think of Velvet Revolution at that time. She was looking very MILF in her own right, her flaming red hair glowing in the mid afternoon sun was accentuated by a White Shirt-dress with pink red and orange floral pattern, a pair of Tight white Jeans and of course a fabulous pair of shoes, a casually hot look in infamous Tori Style. Chatting animatedly with Smitty as she made her way to the ropes and said hello to the group for the first time.

Her smile as always was altruistic and entirely genuine. Taking time with each person she made her way through the ranks. Signed items, took pictures, and graciously took the gift offering from the fan base. Their was a pause as she was presented with some Dolls that a few fans had put together for her. Her posse of Pip, Santa, Clyde and Isabel immortalized figuring style packed in a Military Green wooden box. She showed the Pip doll off to the group as cameras flashed in the lighting that truly did not need the flash.

As she made her way through the group steadily Lisa Lady and I made our way to the back of he group.
One girl asked Tori to sign her body and proudly displayed her sharpie Tori-tattoo.
She made her way up to my little Peruvian prince who looked so happy to finally be getting his moment, they hated, she pictured, and then he had her sign his cell phone which she did with her special silver sharpie. She saw Lisa standing in the back and acknowledge her. Lisa moved forward and had her moment, then Tori started making the round of the people in the back ground. 1 by one acknowledging us like we were old familiar friends. When she made it to me I said hello with my squeaky soapbox voice. I had slowly since the 14th lost my voice from over exertion in my Birthday celebration so their was little I could say other then hello beautiful. Got another great Tori moment captured in still frame, and moved off to allow he last of the minions to have their moments before Smitty announced the last person, and they departed our company.

Lisa lady and I spent some more time being chatty Cathy’s before she decided she was famished. She sent me a dinner invite which I said I’d try to make, but knew with all the things I had to do before I picked Cindy up, and hungered as I was, dinner was not going to be an option this night. We took the bounty of my camera in to have the memory card saved onto a disk and I started to review the stunning pictures my Misty had captured for me. The second shot clearly had a dragonfly in the frame, which of course being an “I believe in fairies kind of girl” I dubbed as an official visitor and blessing grantor. I immediately printed a few shots off to give to my Cindy as a pre concert present to show that even though she didn’t feel up to the meet in greet she still had some of the beautiful moments caught forever for her concert scrapbook. I couldn’t help thinking to myself that in the end she would have been so much happier if she had just made it out and had that moment to tell her grandchildren about some day, but to each his own. I left the photo center with a wish in my heart. I knew the show would be amazing already. Not just amazing, but somehow that it would be the show my Cindy needed to see. I was pulling mad Clyde vibes after seeing the visitor in the frame I was near certain that was the doll of the night. Only thing left was a couple hours and show time.

Went home and grabbed the tickets, adjusted my wardrobe to fit the cool air that had creept in as the sun went down. Called my Cindy and headed over in the zippy red rental to acquire her. I had roped Misty into playing Chauffeur for us, as my tour buddy had bequeathed me with a belated birthday present in the form of some space cakes. I had wanted to partake of the in Ft Myers but after the fiasco getting their and the long road home I had decided to hold off until I had some Zzzzzzzz’s before allowing my mind to be altered in even the smallest of ways. I must admit it was nice not having to worry about the road before the show, and to know I could just let the night happen and be happy for it.

We made it to the show a few minutes after 7pm which was curtain time to find the lobby still well packed, which meant the show was behind and we could relax. We browed the merchandise display which was a little bit of a disappointment compared to the last tours, and I began to tell Cindy how much a same that Curtis couldn’t be with us. He boyfriend Curtis is a guitar player and I knew he would have loved to see what Yoav was doing. The bell dinged and we made it in to our seats as Yoav started another great performance. The hall was a perfect showcase for his talent as I knew it would be. His guitar sounded so much more rich and vivid compared to the previous night. I knew for my previous experience with this hall, not just as a listener but as a musician with a history on that stage r that Cindy would not just have her Tori cherry finally popped, but have her mind blown with the richness and colors she would hear with all of her sense’s. As Yoav closed we made our way back out into the lobby for the Intermission between performances and decided to Pick up Copies of Yoav’s CD which I had not seen in Ft. Myers the night before. Just as we purchased Yoav came out and started signing Cd’s and talking to people, so we allowed a moment to have our items Autographed and thank Yoav for his wonderful performance.

AS the lights dimmed and the five minute bells chimed we once again made our way back to ou seats and waited for the bliss to begin. I unravels my space cakes and got myself ready for what I knew would be a show to remember.
