For the last 3 months a band from Canada has been my fave, Arcade Fire. I like them so much I even took all Tori songs off my player to put the 3 albums they have The EP, Funeral and Neon Bible. I listen to them every day. Look for them on youtube.

Remember the last post I made where I spoke of the mix songs I made of Tori's Albums??
Well this is what I'm listening at the moment and right now the song "Crazy" is playing.

lately it's been "girl disappearing"
but others that i'm stuck on right now are
1. body and soul
2. bring your dog
3. ring my bell
4. and always...take to the sky

~*EYES*~

These days, I listen a lot to songs like Raspberry Swirl and Sugar.. Songs that I can dance to while embarassing all of my surroundings Laughing out loud

--
"Excuse me, but can I be you for a while? My dog won't bite if you sit real still"

At the moment nothing in music way only cars passing on the road outside and the clicking of the
tangents as I'm writing this but yesterday It was a lot of Tori Amos passing through the head phones
made myself a mix of mp3's from her albums to get more songs playing without changing CD
So I can listen a whole day without it running to an end Smiling
But In all fareness it are not only Tori Amos Music passing through my head phones as I have made
other mixed playlists with other artists as well.....and depending on my mood I pick the music after it
and the music can be any genre really as long as it go with my mood at the moment..

At the moment though silence are my mood...so nothing playing.

I've made myself a short list of the songs of Tori's that I listen to the most often these days:
1. Father Lucifer
2. Doughnut Song
3. Horses
4. Marys Of The Sea
5. Space Dog
6. the full 'Y Kant Tori Read' album I received from one fabulous EWF Smiling

Horses (The Gavo Houseback mix) The very sweet Aveallen shared it with me and I LOVE it. Smiling

I have "Club Thing" by Yoav in my head. (I have been dealing with a series of migraines lately and sound still isn't my friend again yet.)

"...What would you say

Such a beautiful face
Such a beautiful girl..."

TBK, I love Cocteau Twins & Liz Fraser! a few years ago my dad gave me a cassette entitled "Treasure", which turned out to be
a treasure indeed Eye-wink And at the moment I'm just mad about the song "This Love" from 'Cruel Intentions' soundtrack.
great to know you like them too Smiling

I have recently rediscovered the goth band "Nox Arcana" - and with them goes "Midight Syndicate", since they are the same people... And, my traditional springtime band, The Cocteau Twins... Liz Frasier has such an amazing gift....

--
"...i'm the one who taps you on your shoulder when it's your time..."
Eye-wink TBK72 (~h.)

recently, I've discovered one great band and one awesome musician - actually, they were both introduced to me by a good friend of mine. I usually don't like the stuff recommended by my buddies, but this time... Smiling ...I just fell in love with that. the band is Morphine and the musician - Patrick Wolf (a multi-instrumentalist & singer from Ireland). has any of you guys heard them? Smiling

I´ve found myself drawn to ADP a lot lately, I guess it´s the time of year.. brings back so many memories from last spring and summer.. *sigh*

Free thinkers are dangerous

Dancing With Myself - covered/reworked by Nouvelle Vague, it is very quirky and nothing like the original. I highly recommend it.

listening to High On Fire- 10,000 years
I like my metal!

Keep The Car Running by Arcade Fire, they are still my fave band.

Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell

I luv that Jethro Tull album!!!!. Not my all time, but mad espect for its art. But then I love music for the sound, seen, and ashetics of it. That album was destine to flop in opening sales, its one of those albums that has pulled a following spanning generations over the years which is maybe more a testament to its copyright then any amount of album sales ever could. Sales figures do not an artist make! You should check out Vampire Weekend groovy stuff. But this is really birthing a thread baby for me. So I'm off to go be manic and put something out here for the first time in what seems like eons. Thanks so much for your kind words. They are a consolation for all the busy Business I've been up to and knee deep it!

if you know me so well tell me which hand I use

I first want to say, "Fairyfireflies" that I am immensely happy to see you back as an active participant once again. Your profound observations, were always insightful and thought provoking. When one couples that with your wit and charm; your presence definitely added a unique touch of grace and charm that was very much appreciated. In short: 'WELCOME BACK!!!!

Although I am not familiar with the Group or the CD you mention, I will most assuredly track it down and give it a try.

As for me, I am currently listening to an Album (On my IPOD) entitled "Passion Play" By Jethro Tull" - WHICH I PERSONALLY REGARD AS THE GREATEST "TOTAL CONCEPT" Album, ever done:

For anyone who is Familiar with Jethro Tull, BUT NOT PERHAPS WITH THIS PARTICULAR ALBUM, I can assure you this has almost nothing in common with anything they have ever done previously or since. (I will say that I do enjoy a lot of their songs, however)

I can also tell you that when this originally came out - Late 1972, I believe, it was a total flop - as far as sales are concerned. Thus, it did not sell, and therefore, even a vast majority of his fans, may not be familiar with it.

I do recall the lead singer (AND WRITER) OF PASSION PLAY - IAN ANDERSON - getting quite upset regarding it's failure, where he came out and stated he felt this was his masterpiece (I think he's right on that) and that if the Public was incapable of appreciating something on that level, he would just revert to giving them the kind of "Crap" that apparently appeals to their intellect. Other than the word "Crap" this is not a direct quotation; but rather is a summation of my recollection of it. I also seem to recall, after he cooled down, that he subsequently retracted that remark.

Further, While this definitely stands as his greatest achievement, in my opinion; I also love - not to mention finding significant intellectual appeal - to a lot of his songs..

At any rate, I believe it stands Supreme, as far as "TOTAL CONCEPT" pieces go. Of course, I still believe Tori's, "I Can't See New York" is the greatest single song ever done in the entire History of Music; and that Tori Amos is the greatest singer to ever Grace This Planet.

Vampire Weekend. Self Titled Album
Super talented bunch of guys. If you haven't heard the self title album check it out.
Great grooves, amazing compostion, and about any instrument you can imagine can be found on this album. Orchestrations are lush in quite a few of the songs, other just have that slighlty regae
jazz funk fusion pop explosion thing going on. Good stuff.
I expect great things in the future out of these guys.

Also finally picked up Sara Bareilles. Not bad. Produced by Eric Rosse, and Matts got the drums on half the album. Shes no Tori, but not bad either. ANother whos got alot of potential

Bad Reputation by Joan Jett

I started what has been a life long "girl crush" on her when I was in the third grade. It was when she was getting a lot of radio airplay. I think I was just fascinated by how she could be a bad-ass rocker chick; on the one hand she was beautiful, on the other, she might just cut you. Evil

I've been playing Pet Shop Boys in my head recently. Does that count? Sticking out tongue

Cool Lilytoo. My wife and my wedding song was "At Last". I'm listening to a track from REM's new album; Supernatural Superserious. Have to get up to speed on them since we will be going to see them again in June. But I have to pick up the new Raconteurs disc soon.
