That Sacred Pipe

Was looking through a book "Dancing w/ the Wheel," by Sun Bear, and found a connection to the Song, "The Power of Orange Knickers." Tori sings a verse "Can somebody tell me now a way out of this-that sacred pipe of red stone could blow me out of this kiss am I alone in this..."
From the Book, Sun Bear writes:

"Several Native tribes tell a story in which, many years ago, there were two warring tribes that would not stop fighting although many, many, people died. The Creator was disgusted by this killing and came to the tribes telling them they must stop their battles. To remind the people of the folly and waste of war, the Creator turned the blood of the dead into stone and told the people to make pipes from this stone. When they desired to war, the Creator instructed them to smoke the pipe instead. In this way all people had a new beginning"

That was such a great book. the memory of Sun Bear. Wampum Prayer is my favorite song off of Scarlet's Walk. I think I met him once, at a pow wow.

Thanks everyone for posting, Raz is right, decoding Tori is an endless adventure. I hope when any forum member comes across things that they connect with Tori's music, that they are not timid and share it with everyone. It is as Raz wrote, a wonderful adventure Smiling

That is very interesting. Maybe Bush should smoke the red stone.

I've always loved "The Power Of Orange Knickers" for its special vibe (I don't know, if you can say that?) I think it's much more powerful live... I like that it has some historical facts in it too!!
Love, AH
