Tori's f***ed Ups (and more)

Hey you guys!

As some of you probably know I'm kind of a new Tori fan, so I've been watching some videos in youtube of her American Doll Posse tour and found some songs in which she gets either confused or just sings bad a part of the song and then she starts singing things like... Oh I f***ed this up sha la la.... I just love when she does that, I'm listing a couple of them here, have you heard any other?

1. In the Syracuse show, while singing Taxi Ride, it seems that she makes a mistake while singing and then she sings some woops I f***ed this up... stuff and stars the song all over again.

2. In the Buffalo show, while singing Big Wheel, I think she gets confused with the numbers (lol) in the gimme 8... gimme 7... count and she stops for a moment right before gimme 3 and then she stars saying f*** f*** f*** f*** f***.... love this one.

3. In the Milwaukee show, while singing Strange, she's singing the song and suddenly scrams "I f***ed this song so bad" and starts a beautiful song on that Smiling. Love her voice in this one.

4. Not f***ed up but... In the San Diego show, while singing Code Red, she kicks some girls out of the show, I love it a lot... I wonder what were they doing to piss her off so bad. :S

Any other f***ed up or unusual thing you guys know of a show? please comment. Smiling

What is it with her that even when she makes a mistake give the fans a great moment to remember? Smiling

I don't think I have ever heard Tori use the f word. I agree, it's a bad habit. I've been trying to stop saying it. Getting so prissy. My sister says s-ck is a bad word in some places. I guess they're related what with the uck.
Oh my goodness gracious, do you think Tori deserves a spanking?
I mean.. a time out.

My favorite one is a a cover of Cyndy Lauper's "All Through The Night"...towards the end she messes up and says "Oh thats F'''''''' tricky" let's try it again"

I missed out on that one, but would like to visit it if anyone knows where it is.

There was this website some years ago that had audio clips of Tori talking between songs, telling stories and some oopsies she did during songs. I can't remember what the website is called or if it still excists, but I remember one clip where she spoke about going to Church with her father on Christmas and she talked about these kids making kiddie noises, like "why does he get a candy apple" and ends it with "you f***ing little twirp". I can't remember all of it, but I just thought it was hilarious. And there was this clip of her messing up Happy Phantom and she made this "nee-na-nee-na-nee" sound.
Does anyone know what site I'm talking about? I'd love to hear those clips again. It's been years since I last visited it, so it might not exchist anymore.

When I saw her in Louisville, Ky. A few years ago she was playing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and I guess she was in the wrong key, because right in the middle of the first verse she started singing something like, "Dilly dally...I'm in the wrong key..." and said something about wanting to kick her piano. Everyone laughed. Then she started the entire song over. I always see her as so perfect in my mind. This was refreshing, she was still perfect in her wrong key mistake. She could scratch her nails on a chalkboard and I've buy it. Smiling

SecretSpell, I love the "F*cking Hell!" part of All Through the Night too. Especially the way she roars right back into it with so much power, it makes the softness at the end all that much more touching.

I think the fact that she pauses, acknowledges her humanity, and then takes charge of things all over again in shows is really great. She is so talented that sometimes EWF lose sight of her being a person like anyone else. I don't know anyone who hasn't been working at something and suddenly made a mistake they could kick themselves for; the fact that when it happens to her, she is in front of a huge crowd makes her seem brave and honest. At least it does to me. Especially in a world where so many people just cringe and hope no one noticed.

From an old ear with feet who just discovered this site...
Professional Widow..Dew drop Inn ...
*she* messes up in the middle with "rest your shoulders" and goes into
"things will f**^ up sometimes
you know they will.."
Beautiful f*^* up that oddly enough went very well
with Widow's message.

yeh, she can deal with any screw ups amazingly...oh i actually heard one just before, which probs wasnt as good. from the washington leg and boot, when she's singing 'what do you plan to do with all your freedom' in scarlet's walk

- so just close your eyes, son, this won't hurt a bit -

Tori might KCUF it up now and then, but she can always overcome the issue.

We miss you already.

"Cut it again!"
- Tori...

At the third Oakland show, Tori sang the wrong lyric in the wrong place during "Crucify" and she realized it and shouted, "f***ing f***!" and then she started singing "sometimes i just wanna play and the words get in the way" and then they started the song from the beginning. It was adorable!

I truly miss tori, when will she be back? any news about her you guys know about?

Everybody knows if they walk into my life they’ll never know when they’ll end up in a song. If you walk into a room where I am, you’ll be in a mill – if you’re interesting. If I’m good, you won’t know it’s you.
Tori in an interview with Tonedeff

From her original bootlegs, on "All through the night" at Royce Hall in LA, she interrupts the song and goes "F***ing how? That's a tricky one, those lyrics. Let's try again." Then she busts out the rest of the song with this growl in her voice, and it gives me chills. I love it.

She had little f***ups in Milwaukee and both Chicago shows (during Hotel) but my fav is from the second Chicago show (Vic Theater) where during her intro to Happy Phantom she did a really cool improv about NOT f***ing up: It was something like:

I'm not I'm not I'm not gonna f*** f*** this one up.
I'm not not gonna f*** this one up.
I know I can't remember my songs
but with a little bit, a little bit of luck,
I'm not gonna f*** f*** this one up.
I know that I can cheat my way
As I get older my hits are bolder
but my mind can't remember my name.
I'm not gonna f*** f*** this one up
Cause a really sweet girl said
Please T, play that song
cuz somebody close to me went ooh ooh
bottoms up bottoms up so
I'm not gonna f*** this one up.
I'm not gonna f*** this one up.
So I try to give myself a little cheat sheet
Does that help me? f***ing NO!
I can't f*** f*** this one up.
I can't f*** f*** this one up.
So let's try to find a tempo, a tempo,
Slow it, slow it,
a downswinging, downswimming...

And then starts Happy Phantom...Very cute.

The sexiest thing is trust.

I've never seen her stuff up, having only been to 2 concerts, but it's nice to know that she is human too! Even someone as exceptionally talented as Tori Amos can forget how to play her own songs and make us giggle with how she reacts to that. Eye-wink

I love this story, it is under the lyrics for it at hereinmyhead.com. Some one shouts out a request for Alamo, and this is the rest:

Tori: "How do you know about Alamo?"
Girl: "Cause your single was released on Monday!"
Tori: "s***. I've never played that before. Hang on hang on hang on. (Mr. Fuzzy goes flying) Shows you how much I care about Mr Fuzzy. (this was a stuffed animal on her piano) OK. Lemme think...lemme think. What key is it in?"
Guy: "E flat"
Tori: "Is it? (plays a few notes) It is NOT in E flat. hangon hangon hangon hangon hangon...I'll get it. (plays first few notes in the wrong key - stops) I wanna play this. I wanna do it, just be patient and I'll figure it out. (applause) Turn the lights down, Simon, they're flustering me. OK, now I haven't played this since I recorded it and I just kinda wrote it on the spot so my brain has like noodles in it...but...um...how does it go...shhhh. (sings: aah-la-mo...) oh yeah, I got it now (begins playing)"

Shocked Talk about staggering talent.

I think they 'f' ups are funny too. On one of TBK boots, I thinks she starting the intro to 'Jamaica Inn,' and at first I didn't catch that her piano and organ playing were out of sinc, (like how many people can play this way to begin w/), Amos stops suddenly and exclaims, "Huuh, f***!!! Let's try that again." For "Sweet the Sting," she brings the choir on stage, does a sound check on her B3 Hammond, then commences to play the intro in the wrong key. She simply says "wrong key," and starts over.
She of course has an enourmous catalog of songs that she plays from on tour. I've never seen any sheet music on her piano. That's a pretty incredible memory. Eye-wink
