Songs that you wake up with in your head
I don't know about anyone else, but I wake up with a song (generally Tori) in my head every morning. It usually sets the mood for the day. What did you wake up with in your head?

Today it was Roosterspur bridge. nice surprise
The primary election (where we chose our candidates for president) is going on today in my state today, and appropriately I woke up with My Posse Can Do.

Let Thy Will Be Done by Von Hertzen Brothers.. I adore this song and always get tears in my eyes when I hear these words; I hold on to your feet, there´s nothing more I need - if I surrender will you remember me? as I surrender will your love enter me? *wipes a tear*
Because I'm Awesome by The Dollyrots
I've been feeling a little rebellious lately so it works.
"...They say I’m gifted, uh huh
Well I’m a certified prodigy
I’m gonna own you, uh huh
I’m gonna bring you to your knees.
...I’m a leader,
I’m a winner,
And I’m cleaner
'cause I’m awesome.
I don’t need you,
'cause I’m neat-o,
and I beat you,
'cause I’m awesome..."

"Excuse me, but can I be you for a while? My dog won't bite if you sit real still"
I woke up this morning (inhumanly < if that´s a word ,lol -early might I add), to a very weird combination of Tori´s version of Smells Like Teen Spirit and Teenage Hustling
Cross Eyed Bear by Damian Rice

I've been waking up lately with Tori's Sleeps With Butterflies in my head. That, or random Garth Brooks songs (Unanswered Prayers was this mornings one). Gee, thanks for that mom.
Suede has been following me around; particularly the "Oh little sister..." passage.

That's such a good song, BC
I haven't been waking up with a song in my head for a very long time now, but the other day 'Marianne' was suddenly in my head when I opened my eyes.. It became one of my best mornings

I woke up with "Almost Rosey"

recently I´ve been somewhat tormented by No One There by Sentenced.. I love the song and the video (I think it´s amazing, very moving), but I´d rather wake up with something more cheerful playing in my head!

Free thinkers are dangerous
I woke up this morning thinking about a song by Carrie Underwood, entitled "So Small." It is one of her more recent ones, and I truly love the message as well as the way in which it is performed. While the lyrics are not as complicated as tori's, it nevertheless has a very powerful and positive message.
Steve B.
As I slept to listening to a CD of b-sides from Pele and SW, my fave B song was playing and I lay in bed and just listened to this beautiful song 3 times b4 I got out of bed.
From the Jackie's Strength single; Never Seen Blue, still in my head as I eat my breakfast.
Feist, Honey Honey. One of my favourite songs recently
"honey honey, food for the bees'... Makes me think of TBK.
A true rarity, "Numbness" (it was performed a cappella during the LE tour) has been in my head for days, mostly when I first wake up; particularly the "not your daughter, nor will I" passage.
The lion has flown the nest,
for his love is gone, and he gave it
There's always one drop left, but, you forget,
I'm not your daughter,
nor will I wear your mother’s dress.
So it is,
take the field and
take the field and
For a war would be much more fun
if there is numbness.

Nirvana, 'Come As You Are'. yesterday I spent a great deal of time listening to Nirvana, Morphine and bands like that. (helps with focusing on learning physics :S )
Lately I have had "Suede" following me around. For several days I have woken up with it, and it drifts into my mind while I am doing other things. And the thing is I hadn't listened to it for ages, it was nice to be reminded and then revisit it.

Yesterday I awoke with the song "Sleeps With Butterflies" in my head and of course that set the scene for a brilliant day!
Hey "TheBeeKeeper72", seems like some of your earliest influences are also mine! Zeppelin were a magical band in every sense of the word. I am impressed that you woke up hearing all 8 minutes of "Kashmir"!
I have been touching upon some of the earliest influences in my musical taste as of late... Today, I woke up with "Kashmir", by Led Zeppelin - I stayed in bed and allowed my mind to play the entire 8 + minutes of it... It got me thinking - as music usually does - how very intricate the rhythms of Robert Plant and Jimi Page (just to mention 2 of them) created within each song... and how different each song was from one another... Then, I got to thinking about the majority of "pop"ular music that is heard on most radio stations - maybe it's just me, but doesn't much of it sound exactly the same? There are so many songs where I'm like, "Is this so-and-so?", only to have my kids say that it's someone else - but, my goodness, they sound EXACTLY the same as the band I thought it was!! And, in my twisted little thought process, I circle back to Tori - and I realize that one of her most amazing gifts is not having 2 songs that sound alike in her vast repetoire! Not only that, but the attention she allows each of her band mates to get in her writing and performing process really is remarkable. These are true musicians - they are inspired by one another, and come together as individuals with their own ideas to create some of the most unique stories... I feel blessed to have found Tori's music... She is an amazing human being... They all are.

"Chin up put on a pair of these roseys
In no time you will feel almost fine,
Almost rosey."
I have a radio alarm clock, so that usually sets the mood for me. Normally they just play crap that I immediately turn off (thus going right back to sleep), but every now and then they'll play a song I like and I'll lay there and listen to it.
The most beautiful was a few weeks ago, I woke up to A Sorta Fairytale, and the entire day I just felt I was floating on air. The song was stuck in my head for two weeks after that experience. It's one of my all-time favourite songs.

Got me a pretty, pretty garden, a pretty garden, yes...
there's a cool alarm clock inside of me
"Butterfly" woke me up at 6:50 am, just before the real clock was about to ring

I hardly ever sleep these days, so it seems to me that I wake up more often than fall asleep... And there are some healing songs which don't leave my head, "Dante's Prayer" by Loreena McKennitt and "Father Lucifer" by You-Know-Who. The second one became one of my favourites recently
(well, the first one too
)
Welcome to the Forum Lucy.
Today I woke up with Ani DiFranco's "Reckoning".
"...And what is life but reckoning
And you know
You are still the song I sing
To myself
When I'm alone..."
