RAINN BENEFIT IN CHARLOTTE, NC

RAINN BENEFIT IN CHARLOTTE, NC
Average: 5 (2 votes)

Hi everyone out there in the virtual Tori community. I don't know what happened to my previous thread on my humble little RAINN benefit, pehaps the people in charge of this board don't deem my efforts to raise money for our favorite charity "official" enough....We are still gonna ROCK IT OUT!!!!

There will be a table set up at the meet-and-greet the day of the Charlotte show. There will be various homeade (with LOVE) items for sale, as well as a silent auction for two floor seats (12th row!) 100% of the money collected for these items will be given to RAINN. I hope to see you there, with your extra few dollars! Thanks.....Ellen

Yes, Lilyscloak sold 200 cookies at a dollar a piece at her alma mater prior to the event; and I brought the rings, and she brought the tip jar, and between ring sales and straight donations we raise $213 before the show that day. Smiling

It went really well! We raised $413 for RAINN. And they say on their site each dollar buys a phone call for help, so I'm really proud of us. Lilyscloak sent in the money under the name Oven's Posse, which I thought was really cute. Thanks for asking about it. It was a great experience.

Well, let me tell you something about America...".

Just for the sake of scale I'm going to post pictures of the bells and beads. Keep in mind the penny is not part of this, just a comparison.

Let me start by saying I can't apologise enough. I know I am very late posting this, but I had loaned out my tripod, and it still isn't back yet. I kept hoping I would get it back any moment and was going to shoot then. Trying to photograph things that are small, detailed, or reflective without a steady tripod is a nightmare - and the rings are all three. So please try to use your imagination a bit. They look much better in person.

BUMPTY BUMP SEE YA TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

BUMP! Get them treats ready!!!

WOOT WOOT WOOT!
I am pleased to announce I have just finished the last of my pledged 32 rings for the RAINN benefit. Now that they are done, I'm going to try to get them photographed and posted by the end of the day tomorrow. I have also finished and printed the signs. Now I can spend my last week counting down to the show!

Well in addition to hanging out with the RAINN jar, rings, and Lilyscloak, I'll also have my knitting. And for anyone who wants to make 'granny' style jokes, I'm going to quote one of my favorite knitting tees. "I have two needles, you have two eyes. Don't mess with a woman who knits." Evil

I dont; know who it was but after one Charlotte show, a fan sold me a pack of AMAZING pics for 10 dollars. They R incredible. not sure where she got them from but I for one am glad she sold them 2 me and the powers that B did not get involved. I usually bring a good bit of merchandise 2 share and look thru 2 pass the time B4 the M&G. Anyone attending is always welcome 2 sit and look through our stuff. I'm sure if anyone has been 2 a Charlotte show, they've seen my friends and I before. We're usually some of the first 2 arrive and bring games and a cooler and such... we played a huge game of UNO last time (I think that was in Cary though) sometimes the shows blur 2gether Smiling

LOL Aveallen, I think he was saying we should be careful both because of the 'rules', but mostly because of all the loot we'll be raising. Nice to hear that somebody will have our back. Hmm, tradesies. I may have to twist my noodle to see about having something swap worthy.

PULEZE!?!? What is a Tori show without all the unique individuals sharing and caring?? I'll B at the show, Lily, and will B eating some delicious cookies that I contributed "donations" for. I've gotten so many neat things from fans at shows.. has this always been a policy cause I've NEVER seen it enforced? (Been 2 ALL of the Charlotte shows) I bring CDs and such but I just give them away or trade something. It's all about the sharing...... Don't worry... we Ears With Feet got your back! I'll distract them while U make a run 4 it Smiling

Great plan BC just play it safe, and good luck and say hi to Nurse Lily for me when you talk to her again. I have not seen her on the other Tori forum in a while, work and stuff.

so many dreams on the shelf

Okay, time for an update. I've spoken with Lilyscloak recently and here is the scoop: the venue has a strict policy that prohibits the sale of anything on their property, even if it is for charity. We are however very resourceful girls. There is no policy against accepting donations. I will be donating 32 rings, in sizes 6-9, to be given away as 'thank you gifts' to people who donate. The ones with bells will be given for donations of $5, and with a knot $3. Evil Crafty, eh? Lilyscloak has decided to scale back the number of cookies she may give as 'thank you gifts' (for $1 donations), just for the sake of portability. To compensate for that she sold 200 RAINN cookies at her Alma Mater. We'll have a sign and a jar for the donations. I hope we see you there.

(Yes, I know. I still need to get those rings finished and photographed so you can see them. I'm working on it.)

Just having thoughts, having thoughts of Marianne

Shorty, you asked about the 100% of sales thing. I am looking at this a donating my time and materials, so yes 100% of all money made from their sale is going to RAINN. Lilyscloak is still working on the vendor. I think the plan if we can't bring them around is to set up and make them force us to not raise money for charity. (Not such a clever PR move.) But I'm just speculating on that point.

--

Hey Lisy,

That's still very kind of you to continue to want to donate to RAINN & to take the time & efffort to make you "own" homemade cookies-- ;p (100%?) so I take it you got permission from the vendor?

Unfortuantly I won't be going to the Charlotte show, (only Phila, DC & Clearwater FL) shows, but um, ah! Let me know how it goes when u do do it~!!! ..>Maybe u can inspire me to do so

These are just a glimpse of the colors I'm using. The 'Icicle' color photographs badly, but is clear and shimmery. You'll just have to take my word for it.

I have volunteered to make and donate some jewelry for the RAINN benefit Lilyscloak is having at our Charlotte show. They are hand made rings. They are woven bands made of tiny glass 'seed beads'; one style is like a möbius strip with a knot as the top, and on the top of the other style is a ball covered in beads with a tiny bell hidden inside. I call the two styles "Bells For Her" and "A Piece Tied Up". I'm making them in colors that go with Tori songs. {clear shimmer-Icicle, clear grey-Smokey Joe, green shimmer-Silent All These Years (for the mermaid part), and black shimmer-Carnival} I'm making 32 total, so I'm doing a lot of squinting and poking my fingers with a beading needle!
